Pear is one of the most important typical products of Emilia Romagna.
The fruit looks like an oblong-shaped pumpkin, with a light green-yellowish skin, that is covered around the goblet and pedicel cavity by russeting and sometimes by a rosy over colouring in the side which is exposed to the sun. The flesh is very thin, has a sweet flavour and a sugar content higher than 13° brix.
